Special Projects Division
Saltwater Solar designs and installs energy systems for yachts and mobile vehicles, wind-powered farms and villages, custom street lights, art installations - and now mobile cinemas. Mainly we just like making innovative and useful things. Anything to do with energy, human and ecology-centred technology, sustainability, and creativity. Here are a few past projects Saltwater Solar has been asked to undertake - and completed enthusiastically.
Mobile Solar Cinema - Katherine Regional Arts
With help from Solar World Cinema and Victron Energy, both based in the Netherlands, Saltwater Solar designed and constructed this custom trailer-mounted solar power supply system to power Katherine Regional Arts' mobile cinema initiative. This cinema will travel to remote communities such as Ngukurr to share arts and culture of the region, engage locals in the outdoor cinema experience, and perhaps inspire young film-makers.
Lithium-Ion/Solar yacht energy system - Darwin
As part of a complete refit of this Bruce Robert's 38 foot Spray design, Saltwater Solar renewed the energy and electrical system, including 700 Ah lithium-iron phosphate main batteries with custom bms, 600 watts of solar with high-voltage mppt regulator, Victron Multiplus inverter/charger with automatic shore-power changeover, low power lighting and new circuit protection and distribution throughout.
Night Lighting - Victorian dairy factory
If you run a big dairy processing plant in country Victoria and need to check on water quality in a nearby stream regularly, often at night, what are you gonna do?
Call Saltwater Solar, and we can supply custom-designed solar street lights with motion sensors to guide your staff safely along the path.
Please note, this is a very expensive solution, but looks great - with our logo on the light stalk - and will last forever. Compared to a torch. Sometimes it is better not too ask too many questions.
